Hey, everyone!! Just got back from Hawaii doing some camera reseach. I did get a chance to test out some of our new gadgets that will be coming online soon from plx devices.

I got to test their IMFD units and the plx R800 datalogger.

We got to race around at low and very high altitudes both and just see how these little wonders worked. They are a great addition if you want to know when your toy can drop your competition in the dust. Or you can always of course do what my dumb little racer , in the tricked srx did. He had the typical guages and the porsche i was driving had the plx goodies. needless to say , it was awsome to see the blue hues of his engine when it blew a rod.

You have got to invest in the safety of your investment and the best i have seen so far is the plx devices.

There is tons of crap all over the air waves and on little tv clips that hummers are over.

"GM in talks about selling or discontinuing hummer line". Yeah, right! if you had something that sold for a great deal of money and the customer never had problems with and was happy as heck over it, would you get rid of it? Didn't think you would.

Some people are too young to remember the gas crunch of the late 70's, but i was a kid and do remember what was being said and forecasted.
Trucks were going to be burned in junk yard and volkswagen would take over the automotive usa.
Sorry, but if anyone noticed, the SUV was created in the 1980's. We are at a crossroads right now, as we have been before. so for those individuals that own a pre- 2008 hummer and still need extra seats or other goodies to make their "real life" Tonka trucks better, then contact us at needfultoyz. Needful Nick here. Wow. What a year it has been so far!

I have gone through it believe me. I can't say hell on here so i won't.

Anyways, i figured i would take a few moments to talk to everyone here about a couple of new toyz we are coming out with.

First is the PLX devices DM 100 OBD II. first of all, here is a great link to an article from plx on the DM 100 OBD II, DM 100 OBD II, now i will blab on here about some of the things i liked about it.

This guage is great. It is similar to the DM 200 OBD II unit but it is a little less expensive and is great for the person not needing all the bells and whistles.

When you are hungry for a quarter pounder, you do not need to buy the big mac, right?

This little baby is great, it can monitor your read outs and download to a computer to enable you to analyze the way your car is running.

It is litterally like driving with a machine similar to othe really expensive snap on tools modis analyzer that costs about $8000.00

Most of us don't the cash for that and don't need something over the top either.

The DM 100 OBD II is inexpensive and allows you to tune your car by the readings you get just by plugging in the OBD II port to your car. If you have a car that is 1996 or newer, then it will pop right on. This little baby is going to be ready for purchase at the end of July 2008.

Then i got to play with the new toy coming at the end of the month as well from PLX, the imfd datalogger. All i can say is that this thing is litterally like having a DYNO in your car.

I think you could probably run a dyno business with this baby.

These items are great and from what i was told, after they stopped yelling at me for breaking it by dunking it in water LOL, these babies will be available the first of this august and the prices are going to be freaking Crazy low. They got some great deal or something like a sister dating an owner thing between the two companies. Not sure, it just means low prices!!!

The new PNDs will use Qualcomms’ QST1100 chipset for cellular connections to real-time traffic updates, voice-call capabilities and other functions.
"Mio is proud to be one of the first companies to offer the connectivity of cellular networks to PND users, making information access seamless and reliable," said Samuel Wang, president of Mio.
Mio said it will offer consumers a PND that goes beyond traditional point-to-point navigation, and will allow search capabilities. It did not specify exact search or other capabilities.
Mio is ranked the fourth leading PND maker in the United States behind Garmin, TomTom and Magellan, according to The NPD Group.

I was sitting back and doing some reading over the weekend and thought about how our customers are always looking for the ultimate in "pimping" thier SUV and making it the ultimate in smooth looking and yet aggressive enough to still tackle and conqure the off road challenges.
Please we have all seen tons of escalades and navigators and even some hummers that have never and will never see the dirt or anything rockier than the driveway or possibly the soccer field parking lot.
With this thought in mind i went out looking for the ultimate off road machine that was still comfortable and had all the luxury items that a hummer,escalade, or navigator would have from leather interior to carbon fibre body mouldings to gps systems and pimpin sound system and yet survive the worst off road environments and not be stopped.
Now one guideline for such a classified beast would be that it could NOT be a concept vehicle. This vehicle had to be manufactured currently, none of those show vehicle trailer queens. It had to be something you could buy and finance from a new vehicle lot. Also it had to have cup holders.
I finally came across, after searching world wide this video of a certified beauty.
This vehicle fit every requirement and was pimped out.
True i do not think that needfultoyz.com will be carrying any extra third row seats for sale on this unit, but that was not the intention of my search.
As i see it from my research so far, this vehicle is the ultimate purchasable off road vehicle.

Hello to everyone out there in cyber. As you can see the logo to

the right of these words, i am really impressed by this site. I was a mechanic for years while i was going to college and i remember very definitley how some guys i worked with and even some shop owners would treat women customers. I personally never agreed with it and in some cases i even had been fired for standing up for my beliefs, i was ok with that. You know the saying, "i was looking for a job when i found this one."

This site was brought to my attention this morning by our CEO as he was impressed by the article i linked here about vehicle backing up safety and kids.

We talk on here and write about new gizmos and products for cars trucks and suv's but there is nothing more important than the safety of a child.

This is a real personal issue to me. As a ex police officer i have seen too many kids hurt or worst yet, die to due to someone backing up and just not seeing what was in their blind spot.

I also know what it is like to have a child die before a parent.

The people at this site are doing a great job and really care enough to get the word out.

Giving the fact that there is good mechanical advice that is written and set up from a womans perspective, and we are wired differently without a doubt. I hear things totally differnet than the woman in my life and it is not always the smartest way.

So i tip my beanie to the women and guys at ask patty.

Detroit Auto Show Unviels concept hummer,Will it come with a third row lebroc seat from needfultoyz?

General Motors’ message in Detroit is centered on two themes: Get younger and greener. On display is the rugged Hummer HX Concept that is designed to attract younger buyers, and the Saab 9-4X BioPower Concept.

Three young designers who were new to GM designed the HX Concept as a smaller and more youthful Hummer. The 304-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and is E85 capable.

With unmistakable Hummer design characteristics, the two-door vehicle has a convertible body that can be adapted to off-road conditions. Two removable roof panels allow for an open-air driving experience and the modular rear roof assembly can be removed as well.

Different rear roof assemblies allow the HX Concept to be configured as a sport-utility truck (SUT) with the roof assembly removed, a slant-back or a traditional SUV design with a larger covered cargo area.

The HX Concept on display was configured as a slant-back design with the removable fender flares and doors in place. The doors can be quickly removed by pulling pins in the exposed hinges, and the composite fenders are attached with quarter-turn quick-release fasteners to allow easy removal for narrow trails or rock climbing.

Ok first off I am going to be talking about Mio brand GPS systems I saw this year at CES 2008. Yes yes, I could go off on the 150” Plasma TV that Panasonic had displayed, or the ultra slim plasmas (less than 1” thick) that are coming out this year.

Or I could talk about SONY and the 11”OLED display tv which is millimeters thick! Did I mention this is available NOW for a mere $2200 bucks. These kind of features can only be found on top brands such as Magellan, and Tom Tom for sometimes upwards of $1000. Kind of ridiculous I think to pay that much for a brand name, when you can get all the hot features and awesome build quality of Mio.

So lets do a breakdown of new products as well as go over the existing lineup. All of Mio’s products are SLIM. Not those chunky GPS you are use to seeing in the states. The UK has had GPS units for much longer and they got the hot products.

Mio Move 3.5” – This is the prototype for the new 3.5” model due out sometime this year. Needfultoyz will have it. Its Mio’s new direction in GPS.

Mio Move 4.3” – You guessed it. 4.3 inch widescreen beauty! Larger and easy to navigate like the rest. Its also due this year soon.

C230 - This is the entry level and affordable 3.5” touch screen navigation device. No frills and ready for the road. At an MSRP of $249.95 its sweet!

Well CES 2008 is the place where flash and color are required not just wanted. Talk about a incredible paint job!

This one definitely needs a excellent radar detection system, i am going to guess that it has one already similar to a needfultoyz.com belltronics system or even a cheetah.

First the news that we are hainv g some technical difficulty with our youtube and ziddio feeds for our video. We are told it will be working in the next couple of days and so i will be bringing you some photos from our guys and some of the goodies at the CES 2008 show we were at.

We will be posting tonight the written story from both guys about ces 2008. (you can see that the STIr system is getting even better, if that was even possible)

We sure were impressed by the looks of this "Shiftzr4 system. Talk about sleek looks and visually hidden away from the long arm of the law eye.

It looks like the factory placed it there themeslves.

Now i can say without a question this baby has a wicked nasty radar system on board.

Hi from Needful Nick.

Just an update to let all our customers know that our two guys in the field are working hard down in Vegas to eveluate the goodies for automotive electronics so that we may bring them to our customers.

I have been less than my normal active self on the posts this wek as you know due to a cod. Well i am working from home right now because what i thought was a cold is walking pneumonia.

This is going to be a short blurb today as for some reason i came down with a incredible cold that started yesterday. I am at work and isolating myself from the rest of my co-workers.

I did want to let everyone know though, that needfultoyz.com is going to be at the consumer electronis show 2008 (CES) in Las Vegas. It kicked off today and will be going all week.

Two of our top people are going to be running around there doing the research and meet and greet. So if any of you are down there and want to say hello by all means keep looking for us.

Welcome back to the world right?
The holidays were great but it is time to get back to the daily.
As in my last post i said i would be testing the Speed Cheetah GPS mirror system that we sell at NeedFulToyZ.com
I did the easy clip on install onto my existing rear view mirror on my truck. Then came the concept of wiring the system and also the looks of all the typical wires.
Many of the other GPS products on the market require you to splice wiring and connect power to your system.
On a newer vehicle this would have been time consuming and a little bit frightful for fears of damaging all or part of the extensive electronic systems in cars. With my older ford truck it would be almost impossible. Older for trucks are "Hardwired". This means that in short it is easier than normal to have a short in the electrical system and thus a huge job to do anything electrical.
The Speed Cheetah GPS mirror easily used my cigarette lighter as a plug in power source. This is similar in newer vehicles that have a "power" plug.
This advantage saved me at least $300 bucks.
I took the wiring and hid it under the interior mouldings and was ready to run.
The first thing i did was to update the memory in the mirror.
I went to the database online, which needfultoyz.com will have available, and downloaded the software for regular monthly updates for free.
Since i used to be a cop i had some officer buddies of mine help me out.
I tested the audible alert at which i had set a speed baseline to tell me of radar being used on me. My friends used both a gun and vehicle based units to radar me at 35 mph and 60 mph.
This baby worked perfectly at both and the alarms are not loud enough to startle you either.
I then entered into the mirror the locations i wanted to store about radar traps i knew of and photo radar intersections. When i am busy driving i am not going to remember where the light signal radar is. It worked great and it was like having a cop with me in the passenger seat getting me out of tickets.
I have to say that the Speed Cheetah GPS Mirror was easy to install and was easy to program and the fact that the updates are free of charge, man that is always great and tells me that both needfultoyz.com and Speed Cheetah believe in what they are making and standing behind.
To be totally and completely safe i found out i can pair this unit up with one of needfultoyz radar or laser jammers with a wireless kit and tie them all into the mirror for audible warnings. Can you "OnStar" without the incredible costs and for any vehicle.

Project Stealth Bike - Blinder M25X Install

Today Needful Toyz is testing and installing our New WIRELESS version of Blinder M25 Xtreme Laser Jammer alert system. You might say that this has been done before? True, but this time we are installing on a brand new sport bike! We call it Project Stealth Bike. Our wireless Blinder system is configured for wireless Audio and Visual alerts via the Cheetah Vizalert Helmet system. The Cheetah Vizalert integrates laser diffusers of all makes and models, including Blinder M25 and M45, Laser Pro Park, Lidatek LE30, Target LT400, and even Laser Defender laser jammers. Our Jammer of choice though is the Blinder M25 which is the upgraded version of the Blinder M20 with higher power output, for all police lidar.

If you are not familiar with the Cheetah Vizalert system, you might not know, it is waterproof, auto dimming, wireless of course, motion sensitive for prolonged battery life, and can alert you to multiple threats by color and signal strength of the LED display. Radar Detector interfaces are also available for Beltronics STI Driver, and others, but that will be in the soon future. The Vizalert helmet display is made for full face, half face or even flip up type helmets. All accessories are included for easy helmet install for any model. Its universal.

Installation: Pretty straight forward. We mounted the Blinder m25 in front and in rear to give us the ultimate Stealth Bike. All we need now is paint from the F22 stealth fighter Jet! Second best paint would be a handy can of our very popular VEIL stealth coating which was easily applied to our headlights and license plate with its spray paint type can. Laser VEIL cuts down on light reflection from police lidar, giving the user added time to adjust there speed. Best mounting positions for the M25 heads are level to the ground, right below the front air dam, and in the rear below our license plate. You can also install under your tail below your break lights if you have relocated your plate elsewhere.

System power is easy, Cheetah pre-wires the AudioNODE, powerNODE, and laser jammer interface for us, plus everything else is plug n play. I wire the Cheetah powerNODE to my battery, or I could have even tapped into any hot source. No need for a switched source since the powerNODE actually senses the engine running and turns the whole unit on and off automatically! This item is almost a must have by itself for other projects including car stereos. Plug in type cables from the Blinder heads are routed under the seat plugged into the Blinder brain, then the supplied cable by Cheetah connects from the Blinder brain to the Cheetah Wireless AudioNode. The AudioNode is the key unit that sends the signal to the wireless helmet display. A few zip ties here and there and we were done. The Cheetah Vizalert kit took only 20 min or so to install, then add whatever time you may need secure the Blinder heads per your application. Everything was very straight forward. You don’t need a Technical wiz like us at Needufultoyz to install one!

Well as you can see that our engineer guys get way to sciency on us and get caught up in the Lab. He is running late and i am going to be laying the smack on him and all the geeks in the lab. He will be posting within the hour i promise or he will be lost mysteriously.

Good morning and i am back today with some info on what it takes to get out there in your toyz and put the rubber to the road, without getting a ticket.
We have been working with the Blinder M-25 laser Jammer detectors and the M45 Laser Jammers as well.
Now you may be wondering how it is that i know if you can speed without getting a ticket or not. Well here is some inside info for all of you checking in on the Needfultoyz.com blog or at our needfultoyz.com site, old needful nick here used to be a police officer. I have been out there running radar detectors and even doing what we used to call "blue light specials" which is a fun way of saying a speeding ticket emphasis.

I got a call about two weeks ago from a independent testing company, i will be happy to name later, and they had some concerns about some radar detector and Lazer jammers.
After talking to the guy i walked over to the needfultoyz.com test lab, downstairs, and rattle the cages of our engineers. I love messing with them. But i told them my concern was about our Blinder M25 and our Blinder M45 laser jammers. I asked them to put these puppies to the tests out in the field. So this week they are going to be setting that up in our company test vehicle which is a 86' porsche 911 targa carrera modified with a 3.4 litre turbo/supercharged engine with european stugart suspension. Also it is a good idea if we can get some readers rides to post some responses and some of their actual experiences with it. So we will be coming back tomorrow morning with some feedback on our test of the blinder m25 and then when we get back next wednesday on the new year we will post our results for the blinder m45.
So if anyone out there has an experience and some opnions to post about the Blinder Laser Jammers then post on here and we can have some unbiased opnions.
We are going to take our test porsche out and speed around and put ours to the test. Nothing a cop likes more than to take his toyz speeding on the race track. We are all about safety you know here at needfultoyz.com

Would you like to own your own Dynometer for less?

If you have any type of toyz you race on the weekends then you know the value of having the availability of using a dynometer. When professional race car teams invest up to $100,000.00 dollars into an egnine for one race on Saturday, they need to know exactly what the engine can do and exact horsepower numbers. Well if you have an extra $50,000 to $100,000 dollars sitting around, you can buy and install a dyno in your shop or garage.

If you are like the rest of us out here in the real world, then that kind of investment is out of the question. But if you are like me and have a car like a porsche or a tuner import with about $20,000 just in the engine and do the weekend runs at the local strip, you can either go to a dyno shop and plunk down $350-$500 for your car to run three passes.

Now there is an option available to enthusiasts like you and I, it is the PLX custom Guage Library, OBD, and Data Logger from PLX.

First of all the guages are great, they replace analog or even digital guages that look and read only what the factory decided what they should do. The PLX guages or organic. What does that mean? It means that you can change the face of the guages to any look you want with HDTV picture quality. They install in minutes as easy as a OEM replacement from the factory. They are designed to be do what you want them to do as a warning to you for rpms or oil temps or anything you need to have monitored. If you need more than just guage monitoring then PLX also has the 200-OBD unit. This is a guage that monitors off of your OBD II plug in on your 1996 or newer vehicle. Just plug it in and monitor all your sensors. It is like talking to your cars computer while driving. The only thing better is to have the PLX Imf Data Logger.

Over the next few weeks we will be playing with and testing the three items here from PLX and letting you know how they do in our tests and how they will do on your vehicles.

Ok, all of you can smack me when you see me at the shows but it is my fault for not hittin the post up at 10 am today like i said i would.

I am going to get some pictures on this seat and get them shot out there to the post. I am glad that our Engineer without Fear got us the review on this seat combo.

As always some people feel uncomfortable installing the seat. For those, we recommend getting any seating or stereo shop to help you install it. It’s always nice to have a few people around to do the lifting and bolt in for you.

Alright guys. Tomorrow i will be working with one of our in house engineer types to answer a question for the hummer crowd.

No i am not one of those, if i could afford one i would have to live in it.

For the sport utility crew and the hummer owners we have a review coming from our test department. So check it out tomorrow by 10 am.

A reminder also, we are going to be doing some window cleaning here at the old homestead and won't be around for christmas eve or christmas, so look for us the 26th.

Ok, good morning everyone of my so far limited fans.

I worked last night and most of this morning on a new product out from goprocamera. As you see to the right is a picture of the motorcycle mounted camera i played with.

I got the box and opened it up and from there the torture test began.

I have worked with tons of electronics and specifically i have done audio visual production and camera man work for some time now and usually it is a giant pain in the "&$$".

First off i have to say that the instructions that come with it are stupid proof, thankfully!

I had it out of the box and ready to mount on the nick-mobile within 10 minutes or maybe less. Whoa!!!

It took me less time to get this baby up and running than it would have taken me to go to walmart and buy a unit thatis cheaper and may not work.

The camera comes in a waterproof and shock proof case. It was simple to use and work with even while in the casing.

The functions are easy to learn and play with. It is a cinch to upload to your computer and even the television. You don't have to load any software or buy any additional junk to get this baby to work.

The quality of the pictures and video were better than one of my expensive digital cameras i have used for years.

This thing comes with great quick connect and disconnect mounts for your helmet or vehicle.

Over the christmas holiday i am going to take it out and do some impact testing and then come back with the details or whether or not it made it.

I guess you could even use this to do some filming at home where the possibility of something hitting your camera might be of concern. (catching a spouse cheating, or spy filming.)

Well there is my opinion so far on this new toy. go pro cameras so far have impressed me and that is why we will be selling them at sick prices here at "needfultoyz.com"
